Mending Lab
The mending lab is a collaborative experimental project that explores mending and repair as metaphors for storytelling, activism, grief, remembering and healing. As a fiber/textile artist, I am drawn to the power of the needle to repair and mend as a methodology of care.
What stories do our clothes and everyday fabrics tell? What stories are held in the worn-out holes of old socks, favorite garments, or blankets?
The Mending Lab is held every 3rd Saturday of the month at the P O Box Collective in Rogers Park.
Participants are invited to bring a garment, fabric or textile that has some important significance in their life that is in need of repair. Basic supplies, remnant fabrics, needles, thread, scissors, and yarn are provided. Please feel free to bring your own special supplies.
